At the time of writing the A456/B4187 reversion works are due to commence this month. Whilst the works are underway over several weeks there will be need for some traffic diversions. This is unfortunately necessary so that the works can be completed safely and will no doubt cause some disruption. This will mark the end to what has been a very long campaign to lobby the Highway authority to correct changes made to the junction.

Once again, the Safer Roads Partnership has been contacted following another road traffic accident on the A456. The severity of these traffic accidents is a cause for concern and whilst there have been no fatalities unless something is done to tackle speed and dangerous road layouts it might only be a matter of time before a tragedy happens.

I am disappointed that a motion to have more trees planted around the district and Hagley was not supported. This does not mean that I will not continue with this ambition as I strongly believe that the pandemic and lockdown has shown the value of the ‘green environment’ for aesthetics and gives positive health and wellbeing support particular in these times when many people struggled with mental health issues.

We urge BDC to spend Government Covid recovery Grants to get the district back on its feet. There remains c£1.2m unspent which we believe should be used to inject cash in supporting health and wellbeing, supporting the district’s heritage, libraries, and tourism, and enhancing
